Micks new whare is in place!

whare-3A huge "Thank you" to all who helped!

Without your help this would not have been possible. Mick is now warm and dry for the winter.

awhi-blessing-3The first money was seeded in early February 2010. The project is now completed before winter so Mick has somewhere warm and dry over the colder months this year. Katie still has ideas about a concrete path to the workshop and a washing machine and drier...

Work has started on Mick's new home. It is being built at the racecourse just down the road from Mick's current home and will be transported when completed.

Mick is busy planning

Mick has been overawed by the response to this project and wants to thank you for your awhi and support. He has been busy drawing a plan of what he wants.

It will be a steel framed building with ply cladding. The metal frame is now being built and building the walls is expected to begin in Early March.

Quote

“I expect to pass through this world but once,
Any good, therefore, that I can do,
Or any kindness that I can show any fellow creature,
Let me do it now, let me not defer it, nor neglect it,
For I shall not pass this way again.”

Carving for Auction

Miracles Happen

Mick has carved a stunning piece of pounamu which went up for auction on Trademe to help raise funds for this project. The auction closed at 9am Friday and it didn't sell. I was really disappointed, but decided not to relist it until after the weekend. But then, out of the blue, at 2pm someone rang and said they heard Mick had a carving for sale could they buy it for exactly the amount Mick wanted for it. And so the final bills get paid.
